The Doctor

Michigan’s Most Trusted Infectious Disease Doctor

DOCTOR ARNOLD MARKOWITZ IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL M.D.

He is a relentless medical detective. Dr. Arnold Markowitz’ patients have often been to world renowned clinics and returned frustrated, with no answers. One patient had seen 27 doctors before Dr. Markowitz finally identified his condition. He is often a desperate patient’s last resort. Dr. Markowitz’ investigative, innovative approach and compassion have brought life back to patients who lost hope.

Arnold Markowitz, MD, has practiced internal medicine for more than 20 years and is one of the most respected infectious disease doctors in the region. He cares for thousands of infectious disease patients each year, and Dr. Markowitz is one of only a handful doctors who is Lyme literate. He also treats:

  • Tick associated diseases including Lyme disease
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Fibromyalgia
  • Wound infections, including animal bites and diabetes
  • Cellulitis
  • Osteomyelitis
  • Hepatitis
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Using a patient and logical approach, Dr. Markowitz has earned his reputation as one of the most prominent and successful infectious disease doctors. When the nation’s largest botulism outbreak struck Pontiac, Michigan, Dr. Markowitz was the one who immediately diagnosed the illness as type B Botulism and worked in conjunction with the CDC for a remarkably fast response which resulted in a perfect outcome. Thanks to quick diagnosis and excellent care there were no fatalities and everyone recovered.

Dr. Markowitz graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine (after turning down invitations from U of M and University of Chicago, so he could remain close to his family). He completed his internship from Detroit’s Sinai Grace Hospital the following year. Dr. Markowitz finished his residency at Barnes Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Mo., and later returned to Detroit to complete a fellowship at Hutzel Hospital, Wayne. He is a member with the American College of Physicians.
